I'am working on a short comedy right now. It is close to being finished and I wanted to save it as a movie file to show my friends. Well, when I try to do that, the "Estimated Time" starts out at 129 minutes, and just keeps going up. I left it on all night and the time was still going up. Anyone else have this problem? If so, how do I fix it? Your help is greatly appreciated.

That's one of the little idiosyncracies of Movie Maker. It is fine for making short simple films but it somewhat freezes when it gets to features. You could try and leave it to sort itself out or just save the film scene by scene on a CD. But, yes, I've had that problemo too.

Sounds like your comp isn't up to spec for the rendering work you want done. I used to have that problem way back on a Crapaq Duron 850MHz sytem, but since upgrading to a good setup I've had nothing but glory days saving files with it.

If you have another editing program available to you, try saving it in sections, then combining those in your second program. Other than that, I'm fresh out of ideas. If you need a free program, I think Windows Media Encoder can do it, given the right settings.

Try this:

In the area where your clock is (the bottom right hand corner), right click and close/exit any programs you don't use (ie. Quicktime, iTunes, WeatherBug, AIM etc.) leave only the essentials- the speaker for your sound card, your antispyware/anti virus software etc.

These are performance eaters and will slow down processes on your computer.

ALSO, defrag your hard drive before doing any of this. Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools- disk defragmenter.

Let me know if this helps.
