I've been thinking about branching out and setting up a small company to do visual effects work. I've got Final Cut Studio, Maya, Shake 4, and After Effects. I'm just trying to gauge how much interest there would be from the indie community for this kind of thing? If it was affordable enough?

I've thought about that, but few people I work with have any money..

There's a quote I heard from a pro photographer I know - "At the right price, ANYONE is a potential client"

So I guess it depends what you mean by 'affordable'. If you want to make a decent living out of it, I would have thought initially targeting the 'Indie' (AKA the 'we have no budget 😉 film community is probably a non-starter.

If you're going to be doing corporate gigs, channel idents, and stuff like that, and work for indie film-makers on fun projects for fun, then you could have something going. Couple of the companies I'm involved with work like this - the dull-as-hell corporate videos pay the bills, and the low-no budget music vids provide the light relief.

Good luck with it all, though...
