I need to know asap please,

Who's Job is it to log the video.. is it done on set during production or after in post production...

I know that the edit decision list/ log is done during edit but i also understand it's a real pain to do without the video log. so who's job is it to do all of this?

Any help appreciated.

Many thanks,

Cheryll

P.S, good to be back on board 😀

Well, on the movies I've worked on, normally the continuity person makes a log of the shot number, timecode (or frame counter on film), tape/film roll and whether it was a good take or not.

That said, I have to admit that, as an editor, I rarely use them. Normally I go through all the footage logging the good parts myself anyway -- at some point you have to watch everything that was shot to see what you have available for the edit -- so it's usually only when we need to find a specific shot that we look it up.
