Hi

In my new short theres a scene which involves a man transforming into sand bottom up. After a part is transformed it sort of falls to the ground and becomes a part of the ground(also sand). In the end he he becomes a part of the sand with no trace of him.

Is there any effect i could put in to fake this. Please help.

TIA
loku

You would have to shoot him infront of a greenscreen and shoot sand from each body part infront of a greenscreen. IF you know how to use a particle system on a 3D program this would be much easier.

I don't think you will get any good results with after effects. You need a 3D program like blender that has a real time engine. And if your camera is moving you can get a free motion tracking program like Icarus, which has a blender and after effects plugin.

The low tech way is to make a mold of the actor and fill it with a combination of sand and candlewax (or something like that). When it's solid remove the mold.

If you head up the combo the wax holding hte sand in place should melt, causing the sand to fall in clumps. Superimpose the actor ontop and you might have something. you might have a mess, I've not done this.
