For a movie i am making i wanted to have armies in them, but i lack millions of actors obviously so i got an idea from this video the star wars kid who was edited so that there was two of him fighting eachother ( http://www.ebaumsworld.com/starwarskidv.html ? fourth one down entitles Star Wars kid Attack of the Clones?). I wanted to apply this idea to creating the battles by takeing one person and cloning him a million times and superimposing him so that it appeared there were a milion soldiers. Does anyone have any clue how the person who edited the star wars kid video went about doing that?

It's easier than you think.

Well, in some ways. Basically you have to matte the person off the background. There's tons of different techniques to do this. In high budgets they would use blue or green screens, but you can do it off an ordinary background using different techniques.

The hard part about it is making the final scene look real. This has to do with matching up sizes, lighting, depth of field, and many many other issues.

Adobe After Effects is your friend. Layer it and crop out all ths backgrounds except for one, this will give the look of the same guy all over teh screen at the same time.
