Ever notice how on professional TV shows that during the commercial break, before and after, they flash a logo and have an ornate and complex flow of images then the screen fades out (or fades in if its coming back from commercial break). Case in point, say Dirty Jobs, Mythbusters, any late night show, news, reality shows, etc.

Using software like Adobe Premiere, (and if i have too, After Affects), how would I make something complex like that?

Any links to tutorials or books or such? Examples?

After effects or 3D max would be the 2 pieces of software I'd use to design a visual insert like that. If you give me a rough brief of what you are trying to acheive I'll talk you through as best I can on how it can be acheived using after effects (and as I have a bit of time at the moment create a simple insert for you) 🙂

Well I was watching the show Dirty Jobs and I realized that I was in love with their cut to commercial affect. It had green "splatter" like ooze dripping on the screen, and wherever it dripped that would be a transition. If it was going to commercial, the green ooze would drip on screen- and as the ooze hit and splattered the next scene would appear, the title logo- but they didn't all appear at once, each individual droplet only dissapeared for the scene underneath after it had dropped, and they all fell at differrent rates. When it comes back from commercial, this is my favorite now, you see the title logo and the slime drips down, and wherever it splatters, the actual video clip of the show is seen through. Like the slime is eating away at the title logo as an acid would metal.
