I am looking for some Royalty Free sound effects. I've looked in stores, but my efforts prove fruitless in finding a CD containing any.
Does anybody know a good website where I can download some royalty free sound effects?
Help would be greatly appreciated.

When the script writing is done, the work has just begun. When the filming is done, the work has just begun. When post-production is done, the work has just begun. When the distribution is done, you decide if the work is done.

There are lots of them. Just google "Sound effects."

Exert caution, however.
Many so-called 'royalty free' sound effect CDs are nothing of the sort. Someone, somewhere almost always owns some sort of rights.. Make sure you read the small print!?:p?
Your best option is to get a sound recordist to record what you need. Obviously you may not have the budget, but remember you get what you pay for.
All the best,

One good solution, if you can afford it, is to buy a sound effects library (essentially a bunch of CD's with sound effects on them, referenced in a catalog so you can track down the ones you need). These are royalty-free and, depending on what you buy, can be quite high-quality (many Hollywood action movies use libraries because they don't want to pay a recordist to reproduce all the sound effects when they can just use existing recordings). The downside is that the initial investment can be steep, (in a quick examination of the SoundIdeas price list--www.sound-ideas.com--I could only find one collection priced under $100, with prices on some collections going as high as $7,500), and inevitably you'll eventually need a sound that's not included in the collection.
You can also try the Freesound project (www.freesound.iua.upf.edu) for free-to-use, creative commons-licensed sound effects, although their selection is limited and often not of the best quality.
