Hey guys, quick question. I'm getting a Pentium 4 1.6 GHz, 512mb DDR, 80gig computer for like $70.00. I will be getting it more RAM and what not but I just wanted to know, will Premiere 2.0 run smoothly with what it came with.
Probably not.
I haven't used 2.0 myself, but I remember people saying they were struggling with 3GHz CPUs when it was first release.

You've got to be kidding me? Wow. That's not good. Any other editing program I can use. I've been using Vegas for such a long time. Avid perhaps?
Avid takes a lot of grunt - especially if you use Boris Fx or something like that with it.

Well that is definitely a light of hope. I work at a porn company and I edit 12 hours worth of Porn footage, quite a horrible job. We use Premiere Pro 2.0 here and I'm loving it. Avid looks so complicated...
Avid is complicated and expensive but once you get the basics you can expand on them and anything is possible. Most Tv/Films use avid

That's right, I've read about that. I've always thought its more of a marketing thing you know? A routine thing....everybody in the film business is so used to using Avid. I quit on Sony Vegas, because it's to basic.
Yeah - i somethimes think that they use the most expensive software just because its expensive. For example Microsoft Office is the same as Open Office and are both matched. But people use Microsoft Office just because its more expensive so they think it'll be better. Same with this.

I hear you. Open Office is nice, I sometimes run into problems when I save a .doc on open office and try opening it on Microsoft Office 2003. No biggie though. By the way, I bought my new computer, its a Pentium 4 1.6ghz, 768mb PC133 RAM, GeForce 4 64mb, 40gb HDD. Vegas works beautifully and Premiere opens quickly and runs nicely but the preview screen lags. My motherboard has two extra memory slots for DDR ram PC2100 I believe. So maybe switching to 1gig DDR ram would help. My motherboard is a socket 478, so I can switch to a Pentium 4 2.8-3.00 ghz processor...and of course a new videocard (if that even helps the Premiere Performance. Oh almost forgot...a 200gig hdd at 7200rpm. Hopefully that will help. Overall this is way better than that horrible 450mhz, 256mb, 12gig computer I had before.
