I recently shot a short movie in HD using P2 cards. Those of you who have experience shooting in HD know that the files are saved as MXF. My question would be, is there any program I can convert MXF to avi that isn't cineform? Somthing that doesn't require hyper threading. And one more question, does Sony Vegas 6 or 7 import mxf right away...in other words...is MXF native on any Vegas? Thanks in advance

I am not a Vegas user, i actually use Final Cut Pro, and i know for a fact that FCP will automatically import the files straight off of the p2 card with no problem. well final cut 5.1 that is. That is the only integrated usage of P2 cards i have heard of.

I might be 18, but watch out, everyone has to start somewhere. I'm just starting a bit faster and bigger. 🙂

I believe Avid will just read the files off the card too. I've no idea how to convert them into a format that other editing programs can read.

Avid Xpress Pro HD will read mxf straight onto the timeline, then it's just a question of exporting it however you see fit. DV, avi etc etc

If you do not feel like changing your editing program, you could look for a conversion tool at www.Firestore.com

I have never tried any of their products, I just pulled up their site after I ran a search in Google.

When the script writing is done, the work has just begun. When the filming is done, the work has just begun. When post-production is done, the work has just begun. When the distribution is done, you decide if the work is done.
