I want to get a good editing software. I have been using basic windows movie maker software for a while now, and although I can get some pretty good basic editing, I really am getting held back.

For one, I need to be able to add more than 1 line of sound. It drives me mad, only being able to add sound effects or music, and not both. Plus, green screen would be nice, as well as some special effects just in case. But basically I need something thats easy, but not basic like Movie Maker. I have some editing experience in othjer prgrams, but still.

My campus uses Final Cut, which is basically what I keep being told is the "hollywood" editing software, but they're switching to Avid.

Only problem is, I own a pc, so final cuts out of the question. Its only Mac based, I think. Adobe sounds extremely complicated.

Anyways, anyone reccomend some cool editing software thats maybe around 100 bucks?

Not sure you'll get anything decent for $100, but I think the educational version of Avid Xpress Pro is around $250. I think that has basic green-screen matting, but don't expect anything too fancy without a seperate compositing program.

I've heard some good stuff about Pinnacle, which is around 100 bucks.

But I'm not sure about it?

Pinnacle Studio is alright. But it is pretty basic. You only have about two audio and video tracks. Which is very useful. It could actually get certain jobs done, but not what your looking for.

Just wait for Certified Instigator to reply to your question, I'm sure he'll have some more helpful advice. He's helped me with everything.

Sony Vegas...its free, user friendly, and can do all the basic stuff final cut can do....and i personally really like CC in it

Avid, FCP and Premiere are all great editing software but I have to admit, Sony Vegas is a more user friendly editing application. I use Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 at work and for a newbie, it could be a little complicated....but I use Vegas at home. Why? Sony Vegas is more COMPUTER FRIENDLY. My preview screen never skips and I've got myself a humble 1.6 GHz Pentium 4, 768 MB RAM and a 64mb Video Card. My render time is quite decent as well. On the other hand, Premiere's preview screen skips a lot. Last time I used Avid, I couldn't even run it nicely on my other system. So I would say Vegas. Try as many as you can and pick the one you feel has a better work flow for you.
