Hey guys,i know the importance of music in filmmaking.I am just wondering how u guys figure out which music is suitable for each scene. For me,i never been so detailed about the music part in filmmaking.I just figured if it sounds nice and ok it is good enough for me.Oh i am using royalty free music for my films, mostly comes from www.opuzz.com. They got short clip sounds which is hard to find.

i'm sure there are more qualified people on this site that will answer you soon enough, but i've always felt strongly about the music that goes into films. Coming from a musical background, i know the importance of picking the right piece of music for each scene. Basically, in a nut-shell, the right music should facilitate the scene. Watch a movie, any movie (particularly a horror flick or a serious drama) when it gets to a part that is very intense, mute the sound and just watch the scene. Then rewind it and watch it again with the sound on. The music plays such an important role (along with the sfx of course) With no sound, there is no meat to the scene, but with the sound you can feel the scene strongly as if you were in the movie yourself. If the music you pick doesnt make the scene so much better, then you've probably got the wrong music.

Another really powerful move is to have a scene, or part of a scene, with little or no sound. When suddenly the theater goes quiet it really grabs your attention. Our ears are doing a lot of work filling out the picture than we generally realize.
