I've been editing a long time, but took a break. Now I'm getting back into it and am buying my own post gear.

How much are people paying for monitors that are at the lower end? I plan to have one proper monitor for proper blacks and whites, and one that is not so accurate for a 2nd monitor. A of people have suggested the Samsung LCD monitors.

BTW I use a Macbook Pro and an 8 core desktop.

Any feedback appreciated.

Hello Dugmoore,

I use the Mackie HR624's for composing and sound design and they really sound decent as a near field monitor. They did cost about 500 per monitor, but nowadays you get them as a pair for 400. Or you can get the newer MKII version as a pair for 750. It's really your best bet.

The brand you want to avoid the most in Behringer- Horrible quality and will not last. My HR's are 8 years old and still sounding great and working perfectly.

Here is an ebay link for you to check out:

Travis,

You may have guessed that he was talking about video monitors; not audio (references to black and whites, as well as LCD could have given you a hint).
