Trying to make a breathing, walking shadow figure for a horror film. Shooting with a Canon XL1S, and editing with Adobe Premiere Pro. Any ideas? We've tried making the shadow man costume a bright, neon green color (ala green screen) and then doing a color replacement to black. But, when I tried that, you can see the green outline, and the shadow man is very pixilated. Any suggestions on what to try next, or how to fix what I've already tried would be very appreciated.
Thanks

Shoot using a tripod. Shoot the empty room and then without moving the tripod shoot the shadow figure.

In editing layer them ontop of each other and turn the shadow figure layer to 50% or 20% visibility or 2% or whatever looks best. Since the layer beneath is identical the only thing really showing will be the shadow figure.

If the shadow-figure interoperates with other characters it can be more complicated but can probably still be done with masks and such.

We've tried doing that as well, still the problem remains that when you do color replacement, the image of the shadowy figure is very pixilated.

I don't see why color replacement would do that, but why do color replacement at all? Exactly what are you trying to do, a Predator type look?
