I've never edited before in my life and recently got a computer worthy of avid, i havent received my Avid DV Xpress 3.5 program yet (i ordered it, its on its way) so a friend gave me adobe premiere 6.0 to check out. I'm picking it up well (i think) and i was just wondering how well i'll be able to learn Avid DV Xpress? Any help is appreciated! Thanks. -Dean
my advice, dont bother with premier if you've got avid in the mail. its a fake offline editing program and will get you on the wrong foot.
as far as learning avid goes, read the book that comes with it. its long and tedious but i've scanned through it and learned a few things.

Premiere is generally considered to be an inferior product to Avid Xpress DV, but in saying that it can be useful for knocking things together quickly or playing around with offline edits.
In saying that, long term learning the Avid interface will be far more useful to you since Xpress DV uses largely the same interface as Avid's high-end products, and therefore represents a better investment of your time.
