Improving audio in post?

I realize that if you shoot on MiniDV, transferring to film (which is extremely expensive) is about the only way to truly improve the quality of the image.

But what about improving the quality of the audio in post-production? When I shoot a video, I attach an Audio Mixer and shotgun microphone to my MiniDV camera. Is there anything I could do in post to make major improvements in the quality of my audio?

I have yet to find an audio program that actually improves the quality. Quality of audio is decided by the bitrate and khz. Higher khz and bitrate will generally result in better audio quality.

I have heard good things about a program called "Wild Sound" but don't know exactly what it does.

Hope I helped.
