I have. It's quite a good program.

Personally, I can't stand iMovie. If you're looking for brain-dead simplicity and overall savings on software, go for it. I shelled out for Final Cut Express, and I've never been happier. I actually like it even more than Adobe Premier.

However, do some research. I know there are some consumer-level editing programs that are better than iMovie, but cheaper than Final Cut, so don't make a decision until you've checked all your options.

Me - "Yeah, I'd really like to direct movies."

Brain-dead?

iMovie is a great program for people just starting out. It's one thing to support one program over another - we all have our opinions - but to call names brings the level of discussion down.

I recently spend about 12 hours (over 2 days) working on a small project using iMovie. It is easy to use, easy to master and the final output (using iDVD) is great. Sure, it's limiting compared to FC Express, but then FCE is limiting compared to FCP.

Often when a filmmaker is just starting out, something simple is the best way to test the water. iMovie lets you learn the ins-and-outs of an NLE system.

I wasn't calling anyone "brain-dead," I was using it to describe the simplicity of iMovie, not the user. Sorry if it was taken the wrong way.

I started up with imovie but it has alot of glitches. It freezes acasionaly and sometimes doesn't save right, but I agreed that is a good program to get your feet wet with. It teaches the basics. Once you get more advanced though I wouldn't recamend it.
