I would like some information about the technicalities about using the canon XL1 and editing in FINAL CUT PRO...what are the proper procedures or warnings i need to take before I edit my feature film??

Well, the XL-1 shoots in DV, and if you're in North America, that's 29.97 fps (NTSC). FCP should have this as the default setting, so I don't think you'll have any problems importing the stuff, and once it is imported, then editing is editing, then back out. Unless you want to export it to another medium other than DV?
