I need to transfer a logo from a flat object to a 3d model without having to fully make a 3d model. is there a way i can import this logo into something like lightwave and extrude it back a little bit. any help would be greatly apprecaited. thanks,
Jacob

Often you can just fake it up in a program like Photoshop or Gimp: I forget how I did it the last time, but I think I did something like copy the logo to a second layer, using the emboss filter on that layer and then mixing the layers together somehow.

Are you looking to just have an embossed image with a drop side, or are you looking to have an acutal 3-d model that you can see all the way around? If it's the former, you can definately do that in photoshop by taking the 2d image and adding a second layer of shadow or even of the logo to make it look like a drop side. Then combine the layers using the layers menu and "merge visible". For the actual model I have no idea. I'd like to know that too, if you figure out a way to do it.

i usually write the logo in illustrator then save as an illustrator 8 file extension and import into maya and extrude face this is the best way to do it...then you can have light and camera movement and whateva you want..learn some basic maya it is so handy

mattyz if anythings worth doing, then it's worth doing frame by frame

Yep, Maya works great for this. Only problem is that if you don't have any 3D experience, Maya is pretty overwhelming. You can learn the basics though as mattyz suggested. It always comes in handy.
