Hello,

I would be interested in creating professional subtitles.

1) How long should the sentences be maximum?

2) How many words per line?

3) How much should I simply the translated dialogues?

4) Any typos which you could recommend?

5) What size should they have?

6) What programmes do you recommend (also for "exotic" languages)?

Thanks!

1,2,5) Make it readable, and well within title safe. After that, it's up to you. If the film is 16:9, decide if you want the text on the video or in the black space. I would suggest on the video unless you're doing 2.55.

3) It's your film, decide how you want native speakers to view it.

4) Er... I wouldn't recommend any typos. If you're asking about fonts, something big, bold and readable.

6) DVD studio pro and other DVD authoring programs are the natural choice if you don't want to export another video track. Otherwise, it's easy enough in final cut or avid.
