I was wondering how one would create the effect of someone/thing going through a wall using green screen? I saw on the making of X-Men 3, that what they had was one big room where half of it was completely covered in green (ceiling, floor, walls) and the character who was "going through" the wall ran from the green room into the normal room?

Would the person be disappearing into a wall that is parallel to the camera, or would it show the person entering another room through a wall that is perpendicular to the camera? Does that make sense?
