Hello, maybe someone can help me out. I finished making a DVD recently and the feedback I've received is that is skips or freezes on some people's DVD players. I've witnessed it myself. It will work totally fine like normal on one DVD player and the same disc will freeze on another DVD player.
Any ideas on why this might happen, and how to prevent it?
Is there a way to get DVDs to play correctly on All or nearly all types of DVD players?
Thanks for the help!

It seems to me that the problem is the DVD player not the DVD. I've expirenced something like this before as well. The DVD skipped in one DVD player (which is a cheap one) and worked great in a more expensive one.

It's the difference between "duplication" and "replication".
Duplication is when you burn your own discs - DVD-R or DVD+R. Most new players will play these, but not all. DVD-R are slightly more compatable than DVD+R's.
Replication is when the discs are manufactuered on the real machines, generally doing only 1,000 at a time and they create a glass master. The discs are capped & sealed and they are like any real DVD you buy off the shelf, but they are pricier only because you have to buy them in bulk. Replicated discs work in every player.

Why is it that replicated discs will work in every DVD player?

Are you asking about the tech specs? Or just general info?

I enjoy knowing the technical side of things.

Here is the issue. I just had this problem with a Archival DVD where I made 200 copies and on some people's players, it would skip, while on others it would play beautifully. Many of the new DVD-R disks require a DVD player to have a recent firmware update. If the player does not have the newer firmware updates, the disk will skip. If it does have the update, it will play fins. It does not seem to be a problem with Comp USA brand printable DVD+R but was a problem with Memorex Printable DVD-R.
