Hey all!

So my friend comes to me with a project he's been working on, a short flick he and his friend put together a while ago but never edited. I says I'll edit it for him...but I don't know the first thing about what I need! I know the FAQ here says how to get set-up with a RAIDed comp with a separate hard drive and the right software, but I'm just starting out, just wanna get familiar with it all first before I go spending some big money on anything, y'know?
Thinking I'd go to my campus and look around, see if there's some editing equipment with some decent software and hardware I could use, but what should I be looking for?
He filmed it in MiniDV and it's about 20 minutes long.
