Hey, I am having issues renaming individual sequences.

Having captured an interview I shot with a graffiti artist, I have been breakind down his audio to underlay speed up footage of him working. I have picked apart and rearranged his ansewrs getting rid of pauses and other imperfections, as you would expect. My problem how ever is that when I trie to re name each individual question with in the time line, the whole of the footage changes to the same name! How to I individualy re name a specific sequence?

Thank you, Cleary.

That's because you're not naming a piece of footage, you're naming the original clip. You can't name a piece of footage in any editing program I've used. I'm not sure why you need to do this, but there are 3 things you can do.

1. Separate the footage into smaller clips and work from those names. This would be a lot of work, so you should probably reconsider if this actually needs to be done first.

2. Pre-comp. In other words work with a sequence within a sequence.

3. Export the edited audio and/or video of the selected portion of the sequence to a file and you can reimport and rename that whatever you like.

Thanks for your help.

In response to the question though, I captured the whole of the interview in one big clip which lasts roughly 55mins. I now need to break down the Ansewrs as the questions I asked him in the interview fade in and out in text. So in order to keep track of each ansewr I need to re name each one individually so that I can manage them better.

Which of the three would you do personally?

Thanks, Cleary.

I would cut it into pieces. You can name each sequence however you want, then nest them into another sequence that contains them all.

Yeah, Pre-comping is probably easiest. It makes everything much easier to manage, too. I use it for very long projects so if I eff up one scene, the rest of the film is still fine.

If you're just doing it to see where the different questions are, you can insert a marker at eat question and then view and search by marker when you want to find something.
