Hi
I am currently making a horror movie and in one scene, someone reads a newspaper, and while she reads, flashbacks of what happend, like someone being murdered in the paper, appears frequently. How do I do that and insert it in my editing phase?

you could simply slice in a very, very short flash of the action and then cut back to the guy with the newspaper.

You could lay the flashback ontop of the scene and make it partially transparent. If you set up the framing right the action will probably be clearest on the light colored newspaper which could look cool.

A technique some filmmakers did was splice single-frame flashes of a really horrific image into a fairly normal scene, rather like in the book or film Fight Club. This actually causes people's emotions to go all funny and can cause men to burst into tears or feel ill. I did this before and everyone looked totally bewildered. It was fun.?:D?

You need a compositor. Film both scenes seperatly and then get your compostor to insert the flashback footage over the article in the paper, might need to warp it or bend it a little to make it look like it's o nthe paper, after some colour correctio nit should look pretty good.

It shouldn't be t ohard with a programme like after effects or combustion.

Hope this helps a little
