Can anyone give me good insight into cheap software that can be downloaded for smaller scale productions, like a cable access show? We've filmed a couple of sketches, and are now looking to finish them. To see what we're working with here's our first one.

Any advice, direction, or links will be most appreciated.
Thanks.?8D?

whatever you used to do that seemed fine. If your looking for more control then you'll probably need a more professional program like final cut or premiere pro but if you cant buy those (or download them) then you'll probably be stuck using windows movie maker.

On another note, if you dont mind, i'd like to comment on the video.

Its a great idea and you almost pulled it off. I would suggest a few things though:

1. The conversations were too long and got pretty redundant and boring after a while. Try shortening them up to make the transitions flow better. Remember, on a comedy sketch like this one, the comedy isn't really on what is being said rather what is being shown.

2. The angles were ok, could be a little tighter on the driver but you could have cut to the car driving by each time before cutting away to the black screen and changing the day. This would help the viewer understand the transitions better by giving them a subconscious sense of closure as they watch the car drive away and the day change to the next.

3. It would have been nice to see the characters dressed in different clothing each day. It would have been even better if they were getting a little more emo each day like in what they were wearing, and how their hair was styled, until they were over the top emo at the end.

Thanks for the review on the sketch. We kept the clothes the same because "Metal" guys are generally dirtier and we wanted to show that by wearing the same clothes daily. I know that it lost it's translation and no one seemed to get it, but it was our first time out. I'm scared of final cut because it seems overwhelming. Windows movie maker? I'll check it out, if there are any websites i should be looking at, send them my way.

Thanks for the insight though
Matt

It may look overwhelming but it's really not. You can even do a search for "Final Cut Pro Tutorials" and find alot of resources
