DVD studio asset retention

I'm trying to output a feature in DVD studio. I dumped everything into it fine, and set it up.

Well, I didn't bother to condense the menu animations because I thought they'd fit full quality. Well, I tried to burn and it doesn't fit on a DVD5, which I want because I'm not paying for DVD9s to be pressed.

Anyway, I condense all of the menus and delete the old assets, replacing them with the new menus. It still didn't fit. So I delete the Audio/videoTS and the MPEGS, and then the original assets themselves. Still doesn't fit.

I don't know what is going on. I'm sure it fits in terms of file size. I was 200 megs over and I lost nearly a gig by condensing the menus(makes me think I should condense the film less but that's another issue). It no longer tells me I'm *** megs over, it just says that it won't fit on the output media. I've switched out the DVDs I'm trying to burn to, so it's not a bad DVD. The only thing I can think that would be wrong is that it is still somehow referencing the old files, though I don't know how that is possible, since they have been deleted.

Ideas?
