Hi all
I am wondering if my graphics card (Gigabyte X800 XT AGP, model id: GV-R80T256V) would support digital to analogue (PC to VCR) transfer.

If yes would I need any specific cable to connect PC and VCR?

Also I want two monitor display, would it be possible with this graphics card?

If not then I may have to sell this and get another of course. Its manual is up online but technical bits are beyond me while I get acquainted: ( http://europe.giga-byte.com/FileList/Manual/vga_manual_gv-r80t256v_e.pdf)Thanks a bunch!

It has following specs:
1. VPU by ATi RADEON? X800 XT
2. Supports the new AGP 8X standard
3. Integrated 256MB DDR III Memory
4. Fully support DirectX?9.0 and the latest
OpenGL?functionality.
5. 16 parallel rendering pipelines
6. All new 128-bit memory interface
7. Supports video capture for video editing (VIVO)
8. DVI-I and TV-Out connector supported
9. Supports ?V-Tuner ??? for overclocking.
10. Output connections 1 x TV-out,1 x DVI-I -29
pin,1 x VGA - 15 pin
11. Input connections: 1 x S-Video input

Yes to both.

The TV Out is the thing that'll send video to your VCR, but I guess you'd also have to hook up an 35mm>RCA cable to the Line Out on your sound card in order to get sound and video on tape.

You can get one monitor from a DVI (new standard) connection, and one from a VGA (old standard). Make sure the monitors you want to use have these connections, or get some adapters.

That's a pretty freakin' sweet card you have there! See if you can find out whether it does Pixel Shading, you may even have a Windows Vista capable card!

Whoa! Thats great. Thanks for replying. I bought this graphics card for gaming and then realised I need to upgrade the power supply which I will be doing today.

I have ordered the converter for the DVI/VGA convertor now.

I suppose you mean 3.5mm to RCA. Is this the kind you mean : ( http://www.misco.co.uk/productinformation/?44692?/product.htm?affiliate=2002)?

ie the red and white connectors go into the VCR and the black one goes into the line out of the sound card.

One more thing. If I wanted to attach a TV monitor to preview movies while I work on the files to be able to see colours and aspect rations properly. Can I do it while I have two monitors attached or will I hvae to attach a capture card (including my graphics card there) or similar? You can see I am moving towards building a system which has everything 🙂

Last thing if I wanted to get a P4 3+ Ghz processor which motherboard would you reccommend to build the above system with which 2+Gb DDR RAM?
Cheers 🙂

Also realised there is a S-video connection as well behind the graphics card. Would that mean that I can connect the TV to it while having two monitors connected to the other two vga and DVI connections?

Do I still need a capture card to transfer video from premiere to a VCR?

Just been to the shop and got the sound card Sound Blaster 7.1 Audigy 4 OEM. That should now connect all the connections of the speakers and has a digital I/O connection as well, I suppose for the digital - analogue transfer.
