Though I eventually plan to get a mac w/ final cut pro--I'm using my PC to start editing my first shorts. I've got Movie Maker, but this is quite limited and I've been looking at other programs.

Adobe makes some nice software, or so I heard, but I'm really interested in the program Pinnacle Studio Ultimate. It looks very user friendly and is right in my price range, $90-$115 dollars. Plus the company that makes it has some excellent easy-to-follow tutorials on line.

This is the one I'm most interested now, but I could be making a mistake-which is why I'm asking you guys.

What do you think the best PC editing software is within the $50-$200 range?

Thanks.

Id advice you to download some trial programmes to get a feel for whats out there and what best suits your needs. Also I recommend www.creativecow.net as this site has loads of usefull tutorials for just about all the major production programmes you can think of. You'll find that link a lot more useful than youtube tutorials for example as they are produced by experts who know what their talking about.

Hope this helps, Cleary.

Sony Movie Studio is an excellent choice, you could save $600 and get pro but then you might as well get Abobe After Effects for 1k.

i have 2 pieces of software, both for relativly cheap

the first is for all around basic video editing, Corel VideoStudio Pro X2

the second is for ??fine tuning.?? such as grading, adding effects, and some other stuff, FXHome?s VisionLab Studio

you can also buy VisionLab Studio in a filmmaking bundle that comes with sony vegas 9, a green screen, visionlab studio, some cool effect cd?s, and some tutorial dvd?s

I recommend playing with Window Movie Maker. I've only used it a few times, but it worked well. It's totally free as well.

I use Adobe CS4 Master Collection at home, but I basically only use Premiere and After Effects. The rest is just fluff for me, and didn't really need the other stuff in the Master Collection.

At work I use Grass Valley's EDIUS-5-PRO, because we use the spirit 4k, a telecine scanner. I wish I was using Premier it's much more Intuitive.

Back ten years ago Final-cut was far superior than Premier, but in a lot of ways the new premier cs4 is better then final cut, especially if you use After Effects a lot.

What type of editing software editing program should I get along with the software program to create a life like prehistoric fish that lives in the sea to be inserted in a normal film in 2D. Like a Jaws movie with the fish created in a software program. I found one from Daz 3D....but then again its 3D and the film will be shot in standard
2D....new to the business of film making.

I work with Adobe and was wondering if you have tried out CS Review yet? It's a creative review program that can be used within Adobe Premiere and is an easy way to get feedback on your editing sequences. Here's a good blog post on its capabilties if you're interested: ?url? http://www.videoguys.com/blog/E/Adobes+CS+Review+Access+in+Premiere+Pro+CS5/0xaf050d9a11a7e784b05a9e659a4c197f.aspx ?/url?

Your solution is Power Director 8 and its easy to download and powerful enough you will enjoy making films and editing video. It?s fast and uses very little resources, it has a timeline, prepackaged effects and downloadable titles among other really cool features. You can link up any group of photos or video and add music or narration separetely. As I comment it dawned on me leave my email, okay so here it is gabrielsolaresmartinez?gmail.com and contact me if you want to do a remote lecture where you can see how I edit and upload to youtube.com and also make a dvd or cd using the neat features that come with power director. Its not expensive either.

Sincerely, GAbriel Solares Martinez Solares Movie Studios.

I don't know if my response is still relevant (have you bought that Mac yet?), but I would recomend Sony Vegas (one of the budget bundles) as a first timer. I've used the program before in the past and I like it in the fact that it's more "visiual" than Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere.
