I'm currently doing some green screen compositing (we filmed an actor on green screen and need to place an office space behind him as well as desaturate the scene and give it some grain to make it look old) does anyone have after effects tips on how to blend the actor into the background as to not look so fake?

Without seeing/knowing your footage it's kind of hard to say. Did you light your actor appropriately? That will probably be the most important factor. Otherwise, I'd say make sure the office shot is angled the same way as your original green screen shot, give the actor the same grain treatment, etc. And colour correction! If the colours aren't lined up, break out those curves and get them to match better.

yeah we did almost identical lighting, and we plan on color correcting to the best of our abilities...are there any effects you usually sue to blend things in better

Like I said, colour correction. If you're referring to simply keying out the green better in post though (as in the often occurring faint border around a subject), I can't really help much there. Sorry!
