Ok so i have been using premiere pro 7 for a long time now and never had a problem until recently. First it started with when i would 'export to tape' a new clip so that i could preview it in real time to edit it, when i do this, the audio is erased. Not off of the hardrive but off of the project. It has never done this before and i have not changed any of the settings. What i had to do was import the audio from the clip into an audio editing program and save it as a wav file and then import it back into premiere. But then the audio was not in syn and i had to hand align it, again another problem that has never occured. Everything else worked like it usually did until once again more, things started messing up. Just like before, when i import the audio, it is out of sync, it is just a little too late. So i drag it back and align it properly, but when i export the video with the audio and play it in a media player(which i have like 20 of them so i know its not that) the audio is still out of syn, only this time the audio comes before it should. So its like it is showing that the audio is off in Premiere when really it isnt. THis is very wierd cause this has never happened and now is happening on everything i do and things are gradually getting worse. I tried adobe's online help but that didnt do any good. If anyone has any idea, please help. Thanks
I almost understand the problem. Could I have just a little bit more detail on what exactly happened.

Ok, first of all everything that i am about to tell that has messed up, has never done this before...ever, so i know the way i am processing everything is right. I have not changed any of the settings, it just happened one day and continued to get worse over the next few days. One thing went wrong but everything else was right, but then two things went wrong, but everything else still worked right, now everything has gone wrong. Here it is:
I capture the footage from my camera, (now if i open the footage in like windows media player, the audio is in sync.) I open up premiere and import the footage into the project. Now in order to be able to edit the footage I have to select it and go to 'export to tape', this renders it so that i can mess around with it. For some reason, when i do this the audio dissapears as if it were erased from the project. So what i have to do is open a sound editing program (cool edit pro, something i've been using for years) and extract the audio from the original video file. Then i save it as a .wav file and then import it into premiere into an audio track. Now this is a process i've been doing for sometime now, i would edit the audio (compress it, eq it, beef it up a little) and then import it into an audio track in premiere. Only now for some reason, when i import the audio, it is out of sync. The audio block is actually a little shorter than the video block for some reason (something that has never happened before)and so i have to move it around to get it to sync up. Of course that's still not that big of a problem expect that after i have it all synced up, edited, and then export the clips as a movie...the audio is out of sync again! This is the wierdest part. When i first import the audio, it runs a little late...the video plays before the audio (i.e. a person's mouth will move and then the audio plays)...ok, no problem, i just drag it back a little and align it up. SO now it is in sync. But when i export the movie, the audio comes before the video (i.e. you hear the person speak, and then see their mouth move.) SO it's almost like in the program, the audio really isnt out of sync but just pretending to be, but leaving it alone in the program makes it near impossible to edit so i have to move it. I have no idea what went wrong, if you can help i would really appreciate it...thanks
That is strange. But have you ever considered the possibility of the camera and Adobe Premiere Pro being set on two different framerates?
I could be wrong though. But it doesn't hurt to check.

29.97, i checked that, i also tried it at 30 fps but nothing has changed, i think i might just have to reinstall it, thanks though
Re-installing it may do the trick. But I still wonder what the probelm could have been. I guess it's best if you try to re-install the program. I have had Adobe Premiere Pro 1 for some time now, but nothing like the problem you desribed, has ever happened to me.

Also, if you've updated any other software (windows media player, quicktime or as strange as it may sound- iTunes) new codecs may be the problem.
If you're working on a PC it may be interference with a windows update you downloaded. Search the adobe forums for "out of syns audio" etc.
Another thing you could try doing is the system restore. Restore it back to a date when it was worknig properly.
yeah i checked all over adobe's site, they have nothing that relates to this problem, even tech support had no idea what to do...oh well i'll just try re-installing it...quick question though, can i back up all the files on like a dvd and then replace them once i re-install it without anything messing up.
Back up your hard drive? or the files from premiere?
the premiere files
