I would not yet use final cut in a professional arena, but I think even with this upgrade Avid is still not moving in the right direction to keep up. Final cut needs only to re-manage how media is handled, rework export settings so you don't need to go through quicktime conversion to get a codec free full quality file and find a way to work with HD sequences better and they'll be miles ahead of Avid. Avid still needs that whole new attitude they promised.
