Can any one help me? I am working with FCP on a Macbook pro, but it won't run .AVI files on either Quick time player or in FCP 6.0!!! So when ever I play it I get audio but no visual!!! What do I need to do to make it work properly in FCP?

The AVI file probably uses a codec that you don't have installed on your machine. Try installing the free codec pack Perian: http://perian.org/
The good news is that if you can find and install the right codec to play the video in QuickTime, it will also work in Final Cut.
