Hello, I am doing a project for a Martial Arts Video and i am using Green Screens "Chroma Green". In my Editing program "Avid Xpress Pro" I can choose the selection Chroma Key and select the green color and it completely, and cleanly, dissapears! Very handy! I want to do this with Adobe After Effects 6.0 professional, but cannot find out how to do the Chroma Key Feature. Color Key and such does not produce a clean erasing of the background. It leaves pixels and does not cut close enough to the subjects body without interfering with their outline. Any help or information would be appreciated!

It takes a little finesse to get a decent key out of After Effects, but it can be done, and probably made to look better than anything Avid can do. Check out the After Effects tutorials on CreativeCow.net for more info (there's one fantastic one--something about using light spill for a cleaner composite).
I did a series of short studio videos on DV and keyed them in After Effects, and got pretty good results. I used a separate comp to build a luminance matte to apply to the orignal video, ended up mostly using the color range keyer. Strangely enough, it seemed like blue worked better than green for me. Also, you tend to get better results if you switch the colorspace to YUV.
Play around with it a bit, you'll figure something out.
