hello there fellow filmmakers!
i am currently writing a zombie fanboy film but was wondering if anyone knows any little hints or tricks on how to do zombie makeup?
Liquid latex and tissue paper is the easiest thing to use to simulate drooping, pealing, rotting flesh.
A nice palet of makeup is also needed. Yellows, sallow green, several shades of blue and various skin shades will make it look that much better.
Woochie ?url? http://store.cinemasecretsonline.com/woochie.html?/url? sells premade pieces that only require adhesive and makeup.

iv been planing out my zomie movie for a while. i want to make a dawn of the dead clasic style zombie movie.iv had advise sayin to buy damaged manicins (sp)for when ir heros kill a zombie or the other way around. was this gd advice?
depends on how the victims die. Mostly for the budget you have I would use alot of cut aways and yes, manniquins may work, but they do look very fake so be sure to light them and dress them up alot.
If the zombie is really old there will only be bones. If they have been dead a year or less you'll probably get a really dirty decayed looking thing like on the cover of the Fulcia Zombie2. I'm not sure how to create that sort of zombie.
If the zombie has been killed within a week or less you'll probably have a pale (like Night of the Living Dead) or bluish (Dawn of the Dead) complection as the blood runs out of the upper body into the legs. This is done with simple facial cosmetics darkening around the eyes and taking the color out of the face. If the zombie is really freshly killed there may be no noticable sign. Usually this is where zombie contact lenses come in to help show that this is a zombie after all. This is primarily how they did it in Shaun of the Dead if memory serves.
In between the two rough time periods you blend to your pleasure using the recipe provided by certified instigator.
Of course there is no reason you have to follow any sort of reality (we are talking zombies here) and can create the look that matches your vision. Don't forget some sign of how the zombie died if you want a few really gross memorable ones (the cover of many Dawn of the Dead dvd's has such a zombie) with half its head torn away.
