Shon, I watched about 8 of your videos. Some pretty cool shots and effects. Most of them are skits with John. Instead of worrying about a 30 - 60 minute movie, I think you should work on story and technique. By that, I mean you should tell a tale. Have a main character and a goal, and then have a bad guy who tries to stop that goal. You already do some of that, but giving your character a goal will give your audience something to look forward to, as they watch the movie. For instance, your character finds a suitcase full of money or he videotapes a murder. The bad guy wants it back so he kidnaps your girlfriend or mom and calls you up to trade. You meet and give him the suitcase. The guy raises his gun to shoot you. You say, "Aren't you even going to see if the cash (or tape) is there?" He opens up the case and it blows up. You save the girl.

Maybe, you or a friend took something from a grave site. A ghost keeps scaring you, until you bring the item back. There are a lot of scenarios, but you need to have a character with a goal and an ending. Team up with someone who can write. Use all the "fag" or slur comments and make a story out how your character handles it.

In real life, you could start taking Karate or do some weight training. You will meet friends in those places. Steven Spielberg went through the same kind of persecution, so he cast the people giving him problems in his movies. Eventually, they became his friends, because the movies were cool!

I don't know about grants and they might not even matter. Money doesn't make a good story. Life experience does. If you can't find a writing partner, start reading some story structure or screenplay books. Movies are much easier to make, if they are motivated with good content. Pay attention in your English and writing classes.

I also mentioned technique. To sell a movie, it must look professional. Having been a filmmaker since 4 gives you a considerable advantage! HUGE! I noticed a lot of dark shots, faces in shadow, etc. You might want to experiment with lighting. You will also want to achieve really clean sound. Even if you don't have a shotgun mic and boom guy, you can get lines of dialogue in closeup and even use them for wider shots. Trying to match it up is the tricky part, but cutting away to the person listening or some other shots can help that.
