In action movies that involve wire work, how do filmmakers hide the wires in the final cut?

I know it can be done in after effects. I have the plug-in (Red Giant Image Lounge) but havent has to use it yet.

They don't. FCP is an editing program with some minor effects capabilities. I like Commotion.

certified instigator, I don't think that he is speaking of Final Cut Pro, I think he is just saying "the final cut" as in, "in the end".

When the script writing is done, the work has just begun. When the filming is done, the work has just begun. When post-production is done, the work has just begun. When the distribution is done, you decide if the work is done.

I would assume they often just chromakey the actor into a background plate. I've seen some behind the scene footage where that's what it looked like they were doing.

Either that or you can shoot the background plate first and then the character on wires. Use a garbage matte to take out the bulk of the wires, chromakey out the rest of what remains, and manipulate frame-by-frame if you have to to get the rest out..

Any decent compositing program should have a wire removal tool. I know Fusion can track the wires and remove them for you, though you may need to tidy up bits and pieces afterwards.

Why not just use blue/green wires? It's be easier to key out and clean up, seeing as a lot of wire work nowadays is either shot on a blue or green screen anyways.
