Hey guys! I've been working in film for a short while and I've noticed in my walkie they always yell, "going in for a wild line." What does this mean?

Its a way of correcting a mis-reading of a line for an actor. They shoot or record and extra line and it is added in by the editor.

It's called a wild line because it is not sunc up with the camera, and usually the camera is not running. Any sound that is recorded that is not sunc with the camera is called "wild". For instance: Recording sound while a camera is running at a higher rate of speed than normal (24fps in the US, 25fps in Europe) would also be wild sound.
