Im thinking of selling my crappy car to get an even crappy car so that I can have enough to buy a video camera of around 1500US$$

I am currently looking into this one,:

Man you can get one alot better (looking anyway), only $1000! You can save up that 500 for the extra equipment you need with you! Lucky, I wish I had money.

I haven't used the DVC30, but I've heard a few good things from people who have, and the technical stats look pretty good. Ideally you should probably find a store that would let you try it out along with a few others in a similar price range, and then you can make an informed decision from that.

This is always an interesting question even though the answer usually comes down to about 3 cameras. But it?s nice to read about what cameras people like.

I?m curious:

vantango - why do you suggest a 1CCD camera over a 3CCD camera?

I just wanted to know if anyone has heard of the Canon XL2. I checked out the video camera online and I was pretty impressed. I watched a video of the quality and it came close to proffesional(obviously it was after editing). If you want to check it out go to..

Has anyone heard of it?! Of course! It seems lately alot of camera discussions (at least that I've been witness to) come down to comparisons between the XL2 and the Panasonic AG-DVX100A.

If you really want the XL2 for cheap, go to Amazon.com and buy the body only, then buy extra parts separately for much cheaper. Should cost less than $1000 total. I would have bought this had I not already committed to my Sony DCR HC85. Obviously no comparison, but great quality in its own right.

damn, the thing didnt post. sorry about this.

anyway, what I was saying was that the AGDVC7 is a 1-chip cam; the DVC60 is 3-CCD. So you get a better image.

However, I have read revies that say the DVC7 when in high light (outdoor, day) situations, produces high-quality video ready to rival the quality of digi-beta. (confirmed by 2 reviews) But in low light, the camrea performs well, lackluster. So it really depends on where and when you will be filming. Outdoors during the day-go with the DVC7. Otherwise, you might want to consider somehting else...

once again, sorry for the double post..

Forget the XL2, get an XL1 for half the cost on eBay.
