Hi Im Gabrielle and I personally believe that writing stories and making movies should be learned by heart. And I came to know this when I started taking up workshops in Film making.Now I still want to pursue my interests in this field,so Im looking for schools right which gives hands-on trainings.And I found this site http://filmschool.ph .Tell me what you think.
You might try finding a local independent film in your area and volunteering to help do anything on set for free. Then keep your eyes and ears open. It probably won't help you on the writing stories side of things but certainly would help on the making movies side of things and after doing work for free on a few you might know what you want to specialize in in film school or if film school is even worthwhile for your needs.
