If i want to make a movie, and hope that someone is interested in it (producer) where exactly should i go?

bit of an awkward question? I guess there would be many steps, but i would like to know what i need to do for future reference

Many Thanks

A very awkward question. Can you be a little more specific?

What do you mean by "interested'? Interested in buying the finished film. Interested in watching it? Interested in working on it? Interested in putting up the money?

You are probably best to just enter the film in festivals to get people interested in it.

yeah the ideas about the film festival are good but i live in a small rural town in the U.K it is not easy for me to find film festivals. Plus my film should be like an hour long, can that fit youtube??

Thanks

You can find thousands of festivals on filmfestivals.com, or indeed on this site; http://www.filmmaking.net/directory/festivals/

Plenty are free to enter, there is no excuse and this is almost the only way to get your name out there.

Try to trust me that shooting a 1 hour film is a really bad idea, it's too short to be a feature and too long to be a short so most festivals won't accept it and no distributors are likely to be interested either, it won't help your career.

The only place you can get money in the UK is really the Film Council who have lots of regional organisations who make awards up to around ?5000 for shorts, competition is fierce though and some regions are really shit so it depends on where you live.

I recommend you be sensible; first film you WILL make lots of mistakes and learn a great deal, so shoot a 5 minute short that you can send to festivals, online cinemas, the Film Council etc.

From reading posts here and on other boards is seems that there are almost no private investors in the UK. Is that because the government funds movies?
