?:p?I'm making a movie with my friend right now and we need to find software that can reverse footage. I'm not American so it can't be in dollars, it has to be in British ?s. (If I have to buy it). This movie is just a silly movie that I'm making for fun. I'm 15 so I don't have actual film cameras, just a Flip Mino. I just thought I'd tell you that, in case you think I'm an older film-maker.

Hey my name is Amy, I'm 15 and I love making films. Right now, I'm just into making short films with my friends but I may advance on to longer films. I've been interested in film-making since I was 8, and I really want to be a director, or something to do with film when I'm older. My idol is Steven Spielberg - I look up to him, and he is my inspiration. I'm in my school's Film Club and I really enjoy it! Well, that's all you need to know about me, bye!

Current Productions:
Overkill - Pre-Production/Filming
Cast:
The Killer - Amy (me)
Lauren (official name tbd) - Lauren

I'm confused by your question asking for software that can "reverse footage." What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

That's great that you're having fun making movies so soon! At this point in your life, the goal should be enjoying the process and experimenting. I and many of my friends did just the same thing when were were (a lot!) younger and before we began careers in the professional industry.

What I and most of those others DIDN'T do soon enough was to learn about establishing a viable career so that we could have fun AND make a lot of money working in the film industry. Most of us do have careers in "Hollywood," but few attain the status of professional "Director," "Writer," and/or "Producer" that is what most aspiring "filmmakers" are after.

My advice to you is to first find the software you're looking for. I hear great things about iMovie. I use Sony software called Videofactory at home. They are relatively inexpensive and will help you edit nearly any kind of story you want to tell.

Apart from that, I urge you to begin WRITING as soon as possible. Start with short scripts and move on to feature length when you can. An amazing book to help you do this is Film Scriptwriting, Second Edition: A Practical Manual (Paperback)by Dwight V Swain ?url? http://www.amazon.com/Film-Scriptwriting-Second-Practical-Manual/dp/0240511905/ref=cm_syf_dtl_top_3_rdssss0?/url? .

For help in Producing, I highly recommend The Movie Producer: A Handbook for Producing and Picture-Making by Paul N. Lazarus ?url? http://www.amazon.com/Movie-Producer-Handbook-Producing-Picture-Making/dp/0064637247/ref=cm_syf_dtl_pop_2_rdssss0?/url? .

To help you with the process of making a movie, even a small one, I also recommend my own book, What I Really Want to Do: On Set in Hollywood ?url? http://www.whatireallywanttodo.com?/url?

More than any camera or software, knowing how movies actually get made will not only help you make better movies now and in the future, but you'll also have a better chance to build a career where you get to do it for a living. How fun is that!? 🙂

Good luck!

Welcome to filmmaking.net, Amy!

Windows Movie Maker is free and it can reverse footage.
iMovie is free and it can reverse footage.

I love that Flip camera. It's easy to use and the image is pretty good.

Hi Amy
Yer movie maker and Imovie are the best for free (depending on your operating system - since you havent said which one you are using I'm gonna take a gamble and guess your using a PC !!)

If you want to get a slightly more advanced software then you could get Sony Vegas (the amount of times I have said this I must sound like I work for Sony - I should be getting some commision!) Anyway I think it is really good as it is better then movie maker and has the layout of more professional software which should lead you on nicely if you do end up one day buying something like Premier pro, Final cut or Vegas pro.

It is also very easy to use and has some quite powerful features - also I havd found if you are creative with it you can get it to do alot of advanced things.

It costs around ?30 so I suggest you download the free trial from there site. The product is Vegas Movie studio - the other two cost a fair bit more

Hope that helped
