Along with the MiniDV I plan on getting, I need new software to edit it. I have used cheep programs on the computer with my old Sony Dig8 camcorder; but this time I want to go the whole way. I have the money to spend, I am just looking for recommendations on what I should get. I am really looking at Premiere 6.5 I found I could get it new for under $600.00. If this is a good or bad choice I would like to know the whys and why nots. Or if you know of other programs that I should get.

My experience runs from editing 6 movies with Video maker. This is a cheap under $100 program that cannot do what I want to do. Thank you for you time.
I also have other posts for MiniDV camera questions and my web site:

Your choices are really:

Adobe Premiere 6.5 (or Premiere Pro if you can hang on until later this year)
Avid Xpress (new version loses the "DV" moniker)
Final Cut Pro (if you have a Mac.

Everything else either a) needs hardware, or b) is ****e.
