I am from i reland anf i want to go to film school. I have been given advice that i really should get out of ireland because we dont have a very prominent film industry. The place i really want to go to is USA preferably california. Its very expensive. I have also been told that australia is a lot cheaper. That sounds good but i am not sure that australia is much better than ireland for finding work afterwards. Can anyone advise me?

I don't think there's any reason you should go to California. There are other places in the USA, and in Europe, that will be able to offer you just as many oppertunities as old Hollywood.

I went to Columbia College, Chicago. To be honest, I learned everything I wanted to know. It was the second B.A. for me. First coming from Michigan State in Advertising. Columbia's tuition is reasonable and from your stand point Chicago is much more affordable for a student then NY and LA. 85% of the people I went to school with are working in LA in a variety of film related positions. Yanish Kaminsky, who shoots Speilbergs movies, graduated from the cinematography department. When I was doing the research for schools, the list ran UCLA, NYU, USC, University of Michigan, Columbia College. Columbia labels itself the largest film school in the country. It sounded like propoganda to me. But, I met my current crew their, a lot of my actors and learned from working professionals with experience in coporate and entertainment film and video production. Plus you would be in a cool city. http://colum.edu/
