Hey guys, I was just wondering if any of you had studied at the VFS. And if you did or you know someone who went there, what can you say about it? Is it any good for the money they are charging? Thank you, have a nice day!

A writer I worked with attended VFS and seemed pretty positive about it, his writing is exceptional as well, I get the impression the education is good but I don't know if they really help create you many work opportunities.

Thank you very much...I still have a question, apart from being a movie director, where else can you find a wrok in the business? I mean...can you open your own production company and get some money? How does that work? Thank you...have a great week!?:)?

I think there were some answers to this on another page.

The absolute cream of film school students can get work straight away in advertising/music videos type work, usually after getting signed by an agent, please note "THE CREAM" as in a fractional percentage, DO NOT bank on this happening.

All the others will try and get freelance work in smaller roles on pro productions to build up to directing.

A few start their own companies which means you go out there and fight for jobs with other prod comps or you put together your own independent productions and try to sell them on, or score commissions to do work from broadcasters/distributors/etc

The vast majority of people run out of money after 1-3 years and end up working as something else entirely, only a small percentage make a career out of it.

Basically you just have to take it as it comes, decide what's best for you and hope you get some opportunities.
