what program could i get to upload the video from a dvdr to my computer

you need some sort of dvd ripping program.
I haven't had much luck using these though.
search around on the net (like downloads.com ->(?url? http://www.download.com/Rippers-Encoders/3150-2140_4-0.html?tag=nav_dir?/url?) or tucows.com ->?url? http://tucows.com/downloads/Windows/AudioVideo/Video/VideoRipping/?/url?)
or alternatively buy commercial software.
