i've been using a digital Hi8 camcorder for a few projects i've done. through editing it's been fine, but the audio has always been below par. so for my upcoming project, i've decided to use an minidisc recorder to record sound because the quality is way better.
the thing is, if i import the audio and the video into adobe premiere pro individually, will i be able to synchronize the audio and the video if it is unlinked in the first place?
Yes.
You use a "slate" or clapboard. For decades people have been recording picture on film and audio on tape and syncing them up.
Even more important than recording to minidisc is a good mic on a boom close to the actors. Throughout the 1980's I used Hi8 - it actually records audio quite well. You just need to get the mic off the camera and close to the actors.
