Hello all, not sure if posting in correct place here but i am a newbie!
I'm almost 18, coming towards the end of my a levels - studying art, i.c.t and graphic products and supposed to have thought of what i want to do next year sometime ago. I know i want to do something with video - mixing it all togeher, editing etc. I have made some short videos for occasions - i.e friends birthday party i put lots of clips together edited very nicely to music, same for my anniversary with my girlfriend, almost like a music video. so i thought to myself i'd love to give making movie trailers a go as it's the closest thing i can think of that i would enjoy. I tried emailing and writing to the PPC asking them what sort of jobs i might be considered for with these sort of a levels and had no response what so ever. So my first question is does anyone know if i could get into anything like this with what i have now? and also is there anything else people might be able to suggest for me to do in september after my exams? it's such a mission trying to find somewhere that does this kind of thing, i think the picture production company might be the only one's in the uk that make film trailers(that i can find) anyone able to shine any light?
Bear in mind i'm in the UK (i think this mgiht be an international site) and that i'm pretty close to london. Not wanting to travel far.
If i've psoted in wrong place please point me in the right direction.
Many thanks.

Not that I am an expert, but what I have been told, and what I have read leads me to believe that those producing movies do not(or rarely) would hire someone JUST to do their trailer. My guess is to get proper funding most directors/producers have to come up with a trailer out of their own pocket to show investors. That could mean editing it themselves, or hiring a skeleton crew for a low wage.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, cause im with you Joeo, a newbie...

My advice is to aim a little higher and chase after editing in general. Everyone and their mother needs an editor...if you see it on a television in any form, an editor had their hands on it at some point.

I'm also not expert about film..
I just new person too..
But as me,
In Indonesia..
They don't hire people who just make a trailer
They need person who can do editing their film
Which means that you have to learn much more..
About Story Telling, Color Correct, Cut the scenes

That's what I know..
'Cuz in Indonesia it's just a small world
