Ok, well, I think this is very imporant. What are those things called when the director has this little scope he looks through to find that perfect scene. I've seen it in the "making the film" features of dvd's and stuff. They are looking into a small scope. It's like half a binocular or something. I have no idea what it is. What's it called?

It's called the directors viewfinder.

Wow, thanks for the info. But is it really important to have it as a tool for filming?

If you're using a 1kg video camera, not really. If you're using a 50kg 35mm camera, it's a heck of a lot easier than moving the camera around to find the right place for the shot.

Every tool has it?s place. I own one. I use it sometimes. It can save time when you have a tight schedule.

C-stands, flags and scrims are important tools to have when making a movie. But many a movie is made without them.
