Longtime reader, first time writer - please help if you can...

I am currently drafting a budget for a 13 x 11 min television series, for a digital cable speciality channel. We are shooting on DV and I'm wondering what sort of post production costs should I include in the budget? Is online editing required for our edited footage (cut on Final Cut) to be TV broadcast compatible? I'm confused with the whole process - can someone please help!

Thank you kindly.

If it was my production then I would be looking to market it which would consist mostly of posters, flyers and business cards. It just depends on how much your willing to spend on it. Also the cost of DVD disks for printing your production on to. Hope these have helped you a little bit, I'll post more where and when I think of them. Cleary.

The short version of this very complex question is:

You put into the budget everything that will cost money. Everything.
From the cast and crew salaries to the donuts to the box of band-aides
on the set. If you aren't paying for any of these things, they don't into the
budget.

Regarding the question about broadcast compatible: sometimes DV is
fine, most often it isn't. If you know for sure your programs are going
to cable then ask the programer what the final output needs to be.
They will know better than anyone. Usually DVCPro is the choice.
