I'm motivated and am venturing into new territory, as it relates to Special FX for my next project. Not quite like the Matrix, but certainly something like Catwoman. Of course I'm in the planning stages and want to just get some feedback from novice filmmakers who've done it. Feedback like, what are the cost involved and what suggestions or pertinent advise you can provide me. I'm planning on contracting a stunt coordinator to assist, which will include using wires, green screen, if feasible and having my actors do all of their stunts, which they have agreed to. So let me know.

Can you be more specific about what special effect you're actually planning on filming? Green screening isn't as easy as it looks especially when it comes to matching the lighting on the character with that of the backdrop. Have you tried experimenting with any green screening yet? That would probably be your best starting point.

Alright, more specific, my main character is not flying, however he'll need to make tall leaps from buildings and landing on his feet. As well as being able to scale a buildings, walls and ceilings. His eyes will glow in the dark. The fight scenes will include being thrown 50 feet. Jumping in the air and kicking while in mid-air. Will these require green screens or jumps ropes and stunt expertise? Thanks!

I would think that you could accomplish these with a combination of wire work and greenscreen compositing, and an experienced stunt coordinator certainly wouldn't hurt.

I'm not sure about costs for such things, but you'll probably want to rent a good solid wire rig and, rather than building your own greenscreen, it may pay to just rent out some studio space with a pre-existing screen, if you can find one in your area, as with most action composites you'll need quite a large space.
